Combine calendars

How to combine multiple calendars into one.

Every major calendar can publish a link in iCal format. Braid subscribes to those links and weaves them into one calendar that stays up to date.

Find each calendar's link.

Menu names change from time to time, but these are the usual places.

  1. Google Calendar

On the web, open Settings, choose the calendar under "Settings for my calendars", then copy Secret address in iCal format.

  2. Outlook

In Outlook on the web, open Settings, then Calendar, then Shared calendars. Under "Publish a calendar", choose the calendar and copy the ICS link. Some workplaces turn this off.

  3. iCloud

In the Calendar app, share the calendar and turn on Public Calendar, then copy the link.

  4. School, league and team sites

Look for "Subscribe", "iCal", "Sync to calendar" or a link ending in .ics.

Then add them to Braid.

  1. Paste the link

Braid checks it before saving and names the calendar from the feed. Links starting with webcal:// work too.

  2. Or forward a calendar file

Got a .ics file by email? Forward it to [email protected] and approve it in the app. Learn more

  3. Let Braid keep it current

Linked calendars are checked every 15 minutes. Repeating events and time zones come through correctly.

Questions

Can I combine Google Calendar and Outlook into one calendar?

Yes. Copy the iCal link from each one and add both to Braid. They appear together in one calendar and stay in sync.

Is a secret iCal link safe to use?

Treat it like a password: anyone with the link can see that calendar. Braid stores it for you and never shows it on a share link.

Can I add events in Braid and have them appear in Google Calendar?

Not today. Braid reads your calendars; it doesn't write back to Google or Outlook.

Can I connect my Google account directly instead of pasting a link?

Not yet. Today you add calendars by their iCal link.
